Course Summary
Exciting opportunity to participate in live "in-the-field" broadcast
production of local sports. This is a hands-on
real-time practicum and requires very little classroom time.
This course consists primarily of working as part of the team producing live
TV/Internet football broadcasts in the Macon area.
Each broadcast consists of a 30 min. pregame/tailgate show followed by
the football game. This year we are rolling out a new instant replay
system and there will be a number of opportunities to participate in different
parts of the broadcast.
Course is suitable for IT, CIT and other related majors.
Course Description
A practicum in live TV/Internet broadcast production of sports. Students
participate in live broadcasts of regional sports and get the opportunity
to see all parts of the broadcast production. Ability and willingness to
participate in a number of evening and/or weekend off campus
broadcasts is required. Prerequisite at least a C in ITEC 2215 or BUSA 2201.
More Information
This course involves "in-the-field" live, fast-moving production of local
high school and college sports. Spring basketball and baseball broadcasts will be
in the local Macon area and at GCSU. At the broadcast site we will be
setting up all equipment, running audio/video cables, producing the live broadcasts
and
dismantling all eqiupment and cables after the broadcast for transport off site.
During the first class meeting, students will be asked to sign-up to
participate in a required number of scheduled broadcasts.
Each broadcast has a limited number of openings.
Evaluation Method
Course requirements include the following (subject to change)
Satisfactory participation in 4 live broadcasts
Required reaction paper to be due before the end of the term.
